Preparation
  1. Slice the onions into ½ inch rings and separate them carefully.

  3. Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture, then into buttermilk, and finally into the breadcrumbs.
Cooking
  1. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Fry the onion rings in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  3. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

Use cold ingredients for batter to maintain a light and crispy texture. You can freeze uncooked onion rings for later frying, making it a convenient option.
