  • 1 lb flank steak, sliced thinly Can substitute with sirloin or chicken
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Low-sodium option available
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce Optional; adds depth in flavor
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch Can use arrowroot powder as a gluten-free alternative
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil Olive oil works too
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced green bell pepper, sliced Any color bell pepper can be used
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced red bell pepper, sliced Use yellow or orange for sweetness
  • 1 medium onion, sliced Shallots or green onions make great substitutes
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Garlic powder can be used if fresh isn’t available
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced Ground ginger as an alternative
  • to taste salt and pepper Season as preferred
  • cooked rice for serving Quinoa or cauliflower rice for a low-carb option

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine the flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Marinate for 15 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
  2. Add the marinated steak and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from the pan.
  3. In the same pan, add the bell peppers, onion, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until just tender.
  4. Return the steak to the pan and mix everything together. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Serve over cooked rice.

Notes

Prep everything before you start cooking to keep your kitchen organized. Consider adding sesame oil just before serving or garnishing with fresh cilantro for added flavor.
