Preparation
- Rinse the brown rice thoroughly if it’s from bulk bins to remove excess starch. If rinsing, reduce water amount by ¼ cup for the baked version.
Stovetop Cooking
- Bring water to a boil in a pot.
- Add the rinsed rice and salt.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 45-50 minutes until tender.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place rice, water, and salt in a covered baking dish.
- Bake for 1 hour, then enjoy fluffy rice without boiling mess.
Notes
Toast the rice in the pan for 2–3 minutes before adding water for a nuttier flavor. Consider adding broth instead of water for enhanced flavor. Store cooked brown rice in airtight containers for up to 4-5 days in the refrigerator or freeze for up to 3 months.
