  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce Soy sauce can be used as an alternative.

Method

Preparation
  1. Place the steak in the freezer for 30–40 minutes to make slicing easier.
  2. Slice the rolls three-quarters down.
  3. Combine butter and garlic, microwave for 4-5 seconds, and spread on the cut sides of the rolls.
Cooking
  1. Heat a skillet over medium-low heat and toast the rolls cut-side down until golden, about 3-4 minutes. Set aside.
  2. Remove steak from the freezer, trim excess fat, and slice thinly against the grain. Season with salt, pepper, and optional seasonings.
  3. In the same skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat, add onions, and cook for 3 minutes.
  4. Add peppers and cook for 6-7 more minutes. Remove and set aside.
  5. Add another tablespoon of oil to the skillet, add meat, and cook in an even layer for 2 minutes.
  6. Add Worcestershire sauce, then cook until browned and cooked through, about 3-4 more minutes. Strain any excess liquid.
  7. Add the onions and peppers back in and toss to combine. Divide meat into 4 portions, topping each with 2 slices of cheese.
  8. Turn off the heat and let cheese melt.
  9. Transfer each portion onto the rolls and serve.
