Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 15 oz canned garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained Provides the protein-packed base for your dough.
  • 3/4 cup all-natural (drippy) peanut butter For richness; almond butter can be an alternative.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract For warm sweetness; almond extract can be used for a nutty twist.
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup Natural sweetness that balances flavors; honey or agave syrup can work too.
Mix-ins
  • 1/3 cup quick-cooking oats Adds texture and chewiness; rolled oats are fine if that’s what you have.
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips For a delightful chocolate flavor.
  • 1/4 cup mini M&Ms Adds colorful fun; feel free to use chocolate chunks or other candy.

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by placing the garbanzo beans, peanut butter, vanilla extract, and maple syrup into a high-speed food processor. Blend on high for 1 to 2 minutes, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides, until completely smooth.
  2. Next, add the oats, chocolate chips, and M&Ms into the processor and pulse until combined. If the batter is too thick, add a splash of water by the teaspoon until desired consistency is reached.
  3. Scoop your dough into a bowl or serve it directly alongside your favorite dipping vessels such as apple slices, graham crackers, or pretzels.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-5 days. You can freeze the dough in portions for up to 3 months, thaw in the fridge before enjoying.
