Ingredients
  

Noodles
  • 8 oz chow mein noodles perfect structure for stir-frying; can substitute with linguine or spaghetti.
Sauce and Seasoning
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce adds depth of flavor; low-sodium soy sauce works great for a lighter option.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced infuses dishes with delicious aromas; garlic powder can be a quick substitute if short on time.
  • 1 inch ginger, grated brings warmth and spice; feel free to use ground ginger as an alternative.
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil necessary for cooking at high heat; can replace with sesame oil for extra flavor.
Vegetables
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (bell peppers, carrots, broccoli, etc.) colorful and nutritious; use frozen veggies to save prep time.

Preparation
  1. Cook the chow mein noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
Cooking
  1. Add the garlic and ginger, sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  2. Add the mixed vegetables and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they are tender-crisp.
  3. Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and pour in the soy sauce.
  4. Stir-fry everything together for another 2-3 minutes until well combined.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy your homemade chow mein!

Notes

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. You can freeze chow mein for up to three months. Reheat by sautéing briefly to warm through.
