Ingredients
  

For the Marinade
  • 1/4 cup olive oil Acts as a base for flavor; can substitute with avocado oil.
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar Adds sweetness; maple syrup is a great alternative.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Enhances flavor; garlic powder can be used if needed.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped Contributes freshness; cilantro can be substituted.
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika Provides smoky depth; regular paprika or cayenne can be used.
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest Brightens the dish; lemon zest is a good substitute.
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes Delivers heat; adjust to taste or omit for milder flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt and black pepper Essential for seasoning; adjust based on preference.
  • to taste Hot Sauce (optional) Adds extra heat; use your favorite brand.
Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined Can substitute with chicken breast or tofu.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Whisk together the olive oil, honey, garlic, parsley, paprika, lime zest, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
  2. Reserve a few tablespoons of the marinade now if you like to use some as a finishing sauce.
  3. Place the shrimp in a large zip-lock bag and pour the marinade over them.
  4. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 15 to 20 minutes, or ideally up to 1 hour for maximum flavor absorption.
Cooking
  1. When ready to cook, drain the marinade and discard it.
  2. Grill or sauté the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side or until they turn pink and are fully cooked.
  3. Transfer to a serving platter and give a final squeeze of fresh lime juice to enhance the flavors.

Notes

Don’t marinate shrimp for too long; over-marinating can make them mushy. Ensure shrimp are fully thawed for optimal flavor. Adjust spices according to your heat tolerance. Serve over rice or pasta for a complete meal.
