Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375ºF.
- Cook the pasta in salted water according to package timing. Once complete, reserve 1 cup of water, then drain the pasta and place it in a baking dish.
Cooking
- In a deep skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef. Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic until the beef is no longer pink and mixture starts to brown.
- Add tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, along with salt and pepper. Allow the sauce to boil, then reduce to a gentle simmer.
- Pour in the reserved pasta water and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes.
Assembly and Baking
- Pour this sauce over the pasta in the baking dish until well combined.
- Top with cheddar cheese and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the casserole is bubbly.
Notes
Serve hot, pair with a crisp side salad or roasted vegetables. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days, or freeze for up to three months.
