Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces Chicken Breasts Can substitute with thighs for juicier result.
  • 2 cups Chicken Broth Use low-sodium or homemade.
  • 1/2 cup Butter Olive oil can be used as a healthier option.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Use fresh or minced jarred garlic.
  • 1/4 cup Flour Cornstarch works for gluten-free options.
  • To taste Seasonings (salt, pepper, onion powder) Add herbs like thyme or rosemary for added flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the garlic and sauté until golden and fragrant.
  3. Gradually whisk in the flour, stirring until mixed. Cook for a few minutes to remove the raw taste.
  4. Slowly stir in the chicken broth while whisking until thickened.
  5. Add desired seasonings, remembering that the flavor will intensify.
  6. Pour the gravy into the slow cooker.
  7. Season the chicken on both sides and place it in the slow cooker.
  8. Cover and cook on low for about 5 hours, shredding during the last hour.
  9. Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary.
  10. Serve over mashed potatoes, yellow rice, or pasta.

Notes

For added richness, substitute half the chicken broth with cream. If the gravy is too thin, add a slurry of cornstarch and water while it simmers. Make ahead and reheat; flavors deepen overnight.
