Method
Preparation
- In a bowl, combine ground pork, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until combined.
Assembly
- Lay tortillas on a work surface. Divide the filling evenly among them, spreading 2 to 3 tablespoons of filling over one side of each tortilla.
Cooking
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a nonstick or cast iron skillet over medium heat. Place the tortillas meat side down and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, pressing gently.
- Flip the tacos and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until the tortilla is crisp. Fold each tortilla in half and cook for another minute per side to crisp the edges.
- Transfer the cooked tacos to a plate and repeat with remaining filling and tortillas until they’re all ready to enjoy.
Dipping Sauce
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, garlic, and chili oil (if using).
Serving
- Enjoy your Smashed Dumpling Tacos fresh from the skillet with dipping sauce on the side.
Notes
Encourage family members to customize their tacos with toppings like avocado, salsa, or fresh cilantro. Use a nonstick skillet for ease of cooking and cleaning.
