Ingredients

Marinade Ingredients
  • 1 cup Soy Sauce Low-sodium can be used for a healthier option.
  • 1/4 cup Water Can substitute with broth for added flavor.
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar Coconut sugar works well for a paleo alternative.
  • 1 piece Jalapeño Pepper Use bell pepper if you prefer no heat.
  • 2 stems Green Onions Can be omitted if unavailable.
  • 2 cloves Minced Garlic Garlic powder can be used in a pinch.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Ginger Ground ginger is a potential substitute.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chili Flakes Feel free to omit if you like things mild.
  • 1 tablespoon Honey Agave syrup is a great substitute.
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil Olive oil could be a neutral choice.
  • 1 tablespoon White Vinegar Apple cider vinegar is a solid alternative.

Method

Preparation
  1. Whisk all of the ingredients together in a large bowl.
  2. For marinating, submerge your protein or vegetables completely in the marinade, or seal them with the marinade in a plastic bag.
  3. Marinate in the refrigerator until ready to cook.

Notes

Over-marinating can lead to mushy results; 30 minutes to 2 hours is ideal. Always taste before cooking to adjust sweetness or saltiness to your preference. Use excess marinade as a dipping sauce after boiling to ensure safety.
