Ingredients

Sauce Ingredients
  • 1 cup Soy Sauce The salty base for umami flavor.
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar Adds sweetness and depth.
  • 1/2 cup Water Balances the saltiness.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced Brings a fragrant punch.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Ginger, minced Adds warmth and spice.
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch Thickens the sauce for a glossy finish.
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil Brings a nutty aroma.

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all ingredients, ensuring you have fresh garlic and ginger for the best flavor.
  2. Measure out the soy sauce, brown sugar, and water.
  3. Finely mince the garlic and ginger to release their flavors.
Cooking
  1. In a saucepan, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, and water over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and ginger, stirring well.
  3. Once the mixture starts to simmer, whisk in the cornstarch mixed with water to thicken.
  4. Continue to stir until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency, about 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and drizzle in sesame oil for added flavor.
Serving
  1. Allow the sauce to cool slightly before using it in recipes.
  2. Store any unused sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  3. Pour the sauce over grilled meats, stir-fried vegetables, or use as a marinade.

Notes

For best results, let the sauce simmer longer before adding the cornstarch. Store the sauce in glass containers and consider making a double batch for future meals. Use fresh ingredients for optimal flavor and adjust sweetness as desired.
