Preparation
- Preheat the broiler and set an oven rack on the second-highest rack. Line a baking sheet with heavy-duty aluminum foil and grease with olive oil.
- In a large bowl, beat the egg, then add the chopped spinach, scallions, and garlic. Stir until well combined.
- Add ground turkey, Italian sausage, mozzarella, Parmigiano-Reggiano, and bread crumbs. Mix until evenly combined—don’t overmix!
- Shape mixture into 1.5-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.
Cooking
- Broil meatballs for about 10 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Meanwhile, heat marinara sauce in a large pan on the stove.
- Add broiled meatballs to the sauce and let simmer over low heat for 5 to 10 minutes or until fully cooked.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
For extra flavor, add Italian herbs such as oregano or basil to the meat mixture. To keep leftovers fresh, store in an airtight container. For crispy meatballs, roll them in more breadcrumbs before broiling.
