Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brown the ground beef with the diced onion and garlic until fragrant. Drain excess fat.
- Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper; simmer for 30 minutes.
Layering
- In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt.
- Spread a layer of sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
- Start layering noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan.
- Repeat layers until you use all ingredients, ending with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
Baking
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Serve hot with a sprinkle of fresh basil and a side of garlic bread. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. You can freeze lasagna wrapped tightly in foil for up to three months.
