  • 1 lb Fresh shrimp Juicy shrimp; frozen shrimp can be a quick substitute.
  • 1 lb Crab legs Sweet and succulent; lobster tails add an upscale twist.
  • 1 lb Sausage Adds a savory note; substitute with smoked turkey sausage for a leaner option.
Vegetables
  • 1 lb Baby potatoes Hearty base; use Yukon Gold potatoes for better flavor.
  • 4 ears Corn on the cob Fresh and sweet; use frozen corn if necessary.
Seasonings and Garnishes
  • 1/4 cup Old Bay seasoning Key for taste; a homemade blend can be used as a backup.
  • 1/4 cup Salt Brings out the flavors.
  • 1 Lemon Zesty garnish; limes are a suitable alternative.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a rolling boil over high heat.
  2. Add 1/4 cup salt and 1/4 cup Old Bay seasoning to the boiling water.
Cooking
  1. Carefully add the baby potatoes and cook for 10 minutes until slightly tender.
  2. Add the corn and sausage, cooking for an additional 5 minutes.
  3. Finally, add the shrimp and crab legs, cooking for 3-5 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and the crab is heated through.
  4. Remove from heat, squeeze in the juice of 1 lemon, and stir to combine.
  5. Drain the seafood and vegetables, then serve immediately on a large platter or newspaper for a casual presentation.

Notes

Serve with melted butter and lemon wedges on the side for dipping. Store leftover seafood boil in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
