Ingredients
  

  • 1 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  • 6 cups sliced Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (for crumble)
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare crust in a 9-inch pie dish and chill while making the filling.
  2. Toss sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg until evenly coated.
  3. In a bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, oats, and butter. Rub together with fingertips until crumbly.
  4. Layer apples into crust. Sprinkle crumble topping evenly over apples.
  5. Bake for 50–55 minutes until topping is golden and apples are tender. Cool before slicing.

Notes

Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. For make-ahead ease, bake fully and freeze up to 3 months.
